Christopher Lampton
Christopher Lampton is a professional writer and editor with the kind of finely honed grasp of English style, grammar and spelling that only comes with decades of experience and excellent luck in grade school English teachers. As an author he's written more than 90 books, including science fiction novels, nonfiction bestsellers and children's books. (The latter include 11 books in the Hardy Boys series under the venerable pseudonym Franklin W. Dixon.) As an editor he's worked under rigorously demanding conditions for government contractors, where he's edited, on tight deadline, hundreds of technical reviews of medical research grant proposals. He's also worked for the last several years as an editor of book-length fiction for a small press specializing in showing off the work of newly published authors in the best possible light while never losing the unique voices that make those writers worth publishing. Mr. Lampton—you can call him Chris, because, well, that's just the kind of guy he is—works quickly, accurately, and promises that he'll price his services so that you won't have to take out a second mortgage on your home. He's friendly, accessible and will not only give your books precise and accurate copy editing but will offer criticism in tones that will give you the self confidence to do the best work you're capable of. (And he won't insist on outmoded grammar "rules" like the one that says you can't end a sentence with a preposition.) Chris is half of Illuminated Pages and works closely with the other half, book designer Amy Gilbert, to make sure your work looks as good as it reads.
Amy Gilbert
Amy Gilbert is a graphic designer with more than 20 years experience designing logos, stationery, trade show exhibits, Web sites, Flash presentations and more for a variety of clients. Over the past few years, she has begun specializing in print-on-demand and e-book design because she feels that her unique combination of skills and traits lend themselves well to this field. Those skills and traits include a creative eye, excellent taste, mild geekiness, and an obsessive attention to detail. She keeps up with the latest developments in the e-book field (a full-time job in this rapidly changing market) to ensure that the e-books she designs look good not only on the Kindle, Nook and iPad but on every reading device on the market. Like her editing partner Chris, she's friendly and accessible and a good collaborator who cares about the authors who trust her to work with their books. She knows you want your creations to look as good as they possibly can and will work with you to make sure they shine.
